Microwave Absorption in a Plasma Resonator operated with Hydrogen
نویسنده
چکیده
The permeation of microwave pulses ( / = 9 . 4 G H z . pulse duration: 0 .5-0 .7 ps) through a partially ionized hydrogen plasma is investigated. At supercritical electron densities (line-averaged density: n t = 1.2-1.8 x 10 m~) a resonant enhancement of the wave amplitude is observed between the plasma column and the metallic end reflector of the waveguide. Local measurements of the electric field strength in the cut-off layer next to the end reflector are correlated with the transient behaviour of the H^ line intensity, of the electron density, and of the mean electron energy. From these measurements, both the reduced H^ excitation rate and the reduced ionization rate by electron collisions are obtained as functions of the reduced effective field strength in the range 3 0 6 5 Vm 1 Pa 1 .

متن کاملSurface Modification of Silicone Rubber Membrane by Microwave Discharge to Improve Biocompatibility
Wetability of biocompatible polymers can be improved by plasma surface modification. The purpose of this study was to surface modify an experimental poly (dimethylsiloxane) rubber (PDMS) material in order to improve its wetability and biocompatibility. Surface properties of the PDMS were characterized using contact angles measurement for wetability analysis. Samples of experimental silico...

Signal gain is demonstrated by intermodulation with a...
متن کاملPhase Noise of an HTS Resonator Operated in the Nonlinear Regime
Nonlinear properties of high-temperature superconducting (HTS) strongly coupled resonators at different input power have been investigated by measurements of the quality factor as a function of input power as well as by generation of the intermodulation distortion (IMD). The double-sided YBCO films on CeO2 buffered sapphire demonstrate advanced performance with the microwave surface resistance ...
متن کاملPlanar Microstrip Ring Resonators for Microwave-Based Gas Sensing: Design Aspects and Initial Transducers for Humidity and Ammonia Sensing
A planar microstrip ring resonator structure on alumina was developed using the commercial FEM software COMSOL. Design parameters were evaluated, eventually leading to an optimized design of a miniaturized microwave gas sensor. The sensor was covered with a zeolite film. The device was successfully operated at around 8.5 GHz at room temperature as a humidity sensor. In the next step, an additio...
